Use with care

Can you use Retinoid and Retinol together?

Avoid stacking multiple retinoid products unless clinician-directed

The short answer

Use with care

Topical retinoids commonly cause local dryness, redness, peeling, burning, or stinging. Using more than one retinoid product on the same area is not a routine combination and may increase irritation without established added benefit. Use one retinoid regimen unless a clinician specifically directs otherwise.

A documented caution where formulation, frequency, and tolerance matter.

What can change the answer

Formula and strength

Concentration, pH, delivery system, and whether both ingredients are in one tested formula can matter.

Frequency and the rest of your routine

Layering several strong actives or using them too often can raise irritation risk.

Your skin and prescriptions

Sensitivity, barrier damage, skin conditions, and prescribed treatments can change what is appropriate.
