Use with care

Can you use Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid together?

Salicylic Acid + Benzoyl Peroxide may increase dryness or irritation

The short answer

Use with care

These acne ingredients are not established as chemically incompatible and have been studied in combined regimens. Using multiple drying or exfoliating treatments can nevertheless increase transient dryness and irritation. Introduce them cautiously and follow the directions for each product.

A documented caution where formulation, frequency, and tolerance matter.

What can change the answer

Formula and strength

Concentration, pH, delivery system, and whether both ingredients are in one tested formula can matter.

Frequency and the rest of your routine

Layering several strong actives or using them too often can raise irritation risk.

Your skin and prescriptions

Sensitivity, barrier damage, skin conditions, and prescribed treatments can change what is appropriate.
