Use with care

Can you use Benzoyl Peroxide and Tretinoin together?

Tretinoin + Benzoyl Peroxide compatibility depends on formulation

The short answer

Use with care

Conventional tretinoin gel can degrade when directly combined with benzoyl peroxide, and using separate products together may also increase irritation. However, specially formulated prescription products such as TWYNEO are designed to contain both ingredients. Follow the combination-product label or prescriber instructions; for separate products without specific guidance, separate their application times.

A documented caution where formulation, frequency, and tolerance matter.

What can change the answer

Formula and strength

Concentration, pH, delivery system, and whether both ingredients are in one tested formula can matter.

Frequency and the rest of your routine

Layering several strong actives or using them too often can raise irritation risk.

Your skin and prescriptions

Sensitivity, barrier damage, skin conditions, and prescribed treatments can change what is appropriate.
